Designed for the Modern Tactical Landscape
Built from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and rated at NIJ Level IV – based on HPP light weight ceramics, the Ramses shield is designed to withstand high-velocity rounds, including those from 7.62mm AK-47 rifles. Its advanced materials and design enable officers to move efficiently in high-pressure urban environments, from narrow hallways to crowded stairwells. Being compact, the Ramses shield is suited for rapid advancements and allows officers to navigate tight spaces where traditional shields might be cumbersome.
“Our work on the Ramses shield is driven by real-world insights from the tactical teams who use it. Every design choice we make—from weight adjustments to visibility features—is shaped by their feedback to ensure that the shield meets their specific operational needs,” states Anthony Rossignol, Project Manager – Personal Protection.
Equipped with a viewport, the Ramses shield provides officers with a clear line of sight while keeping them protected. This feature aids tactical teams in assessing threats without compromising their safety, a valuable asset in hostage rescue operations where every second counts.
Proven Performance Under Fire
The Ramses shield’s reliability was highlighted during the Bataclan Theater attack in Paris in November 2015, when France’s elite Brigade de Recherche et d’Intervention (BRI) team used it to advance against armed terrorists. Under relentless fire, the shield absorbed over 25 rounds, allowing officers to press forward and protect civilians. Reflecting on this critical event, one of the operators from the BRI team recalled that the shield had held up against a barrage that otherwise would have struck advancing officers.
“Without the shield, I would not be here,” one of the officers later told Rossignol. Another operator noted, “I was the first person behind the shield, and my favourite bullet impact was the one that landed directly where my head was.”
Following the operation, Integris was invited to visit the elite unit’s headquarters on several occasions to meet with the team and view the shield that had been used in action. To honour its role in safeguarding lives, the shield was preserved in a glass case, now displayed in the unit’s showroom as a testament to its durability and critical role.
“I’m both proud and deeply humbled to be the project manager for a shield that has made such a difference in the field. Hearing the BRI team thank us for creating something that saved their lives is a powerful reminder —it’s about protecting those who protect us,” states Anthony Rossignol, Project Manager – Personal Protection.

Collaborating to Meet Real-World Needs
Integris takes a hands-on approach to product development, working directly with clients to create shields tailored to their unique operational challenges. By collaborating closely with tactical units such as France’s RAID and BRI, we refine our designs to address specific needs encountered in real-world situations, like urban combat. This process involves regular field feedback, with officers sharing insights on the shield’s performance in active scenarios.
Recognizing the unique needs of each team, Integris has tailored the Ramses shield and other models with specific features, such as taller shields for some units, custom colours and gun holders for others, and additional roof protection panels for private security applications. This collaboration ensures that each shield not only meets but often surpasses standard requirements, proving to be both versatile and reliable across diverse environments. The result is a shield that truly aligns with the demands of the field, equipping tactical units with precisely what they need for effective and safe operations.
A Surge in Demand for Reliable Ballistic Shields
The success of the Ramses shield has driven a growing global demand, with agencies across Europe, North America, and beyond adopting the Ramses model and similar designs. Tactical units worldwide increasingly recognize the need for shields that balance robust protection with ease of movement, especially in dynamic urban environments.
In response, Integris continues to prioritize research and development, advancing user-driven design improvements that enhance both safety and functionality. This commitment to innovation extends to new products like the PAC Bunker, now deployed in Asia, a European police unit, and other security teams. Each shield is tailored to meet specific operational needs, ensuring that tactical units are equipped with the right tools for their distinct challenges.
Supporting Tactical Operations into the Future
As Integris continues to collaborate with tactical units and security agencies worldwide, the Ramses ballistic shield remains a prime example of how targeted design can enhance officer safety and operational effectiveness. The shield’s role in protecting lives during critical operations has confirmed its place as a valuable asset for law enforcement, providing officers with dependable protection that allows them to focus on their mission.
