Integris Ballistic Armour Featured in Sillinger’s New Armoured Rigid Collar at EURONAVAL

4 Nov, 2026

Integris ballistic protection technology is at the centre of a new armoured rigid collar developed by French boat manufacturer Sillinger, making its world premiere at EURONAVAL 2026 in Paris, from 3–6 November.

Designed for Sillinger’s ALURAID range of rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), the innovative solution integrates lightweight, high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) ballistic armour from Integris directly into the vessel’s rigid collar, providing additional protection for personnel operating in exposed maritime environments.

Ballistic Protection Where It Matters

On high-speed military and law enforcement vessels, crew members often operate close to the boat’s collar, making ballistic protection in this area particularly valuable.

Sillinger’s new design combines the collar’s existing buoyancy and protective functions with integrated ballistic armour, helping protect personnel against small-arms threats without compromising the vessel’s flotation capabilities.

The Integris HPPE armour provides Level III+ ballistic protection, as described in the Sillinger press release with reference to NIJ 0101.06.

During ballistic testing, the armour successfully stopped 7.62 × 39 mm AK-47-type ammunition with mild steel core (MSC) projectiles travelling at 720 m/s. A single test panel withstood six impacts without complete projectile penetration.

The tested armour panel features:

  • Ballistic protection: Level III+ (referenced to NIJ 0101.06)
  • Threat tested: 7.62 × 39 mm AK-47-type MSC ammunition
  • Impact velocity: 720 m/s
  • Multi-hit performance: Six impacts on a single test panel
  • Armour thickness: 22 mm
  • Areal density: 20.8 kg/m²

Lightweight Armour Designed for Maritime Environments

Integris HPPE armour offers several advantages for maritime applications, where weight, durability and operational performance are critical.

The material combines high impact resistance with low weight and resistance to moisture and chemicals. Its inherent buoyancy makes it particularly suitable for integration into marine structures, allowing additional ballistic protection without negatively affecting the boat’s flotation characteristics.

The armoured rigid collar is available as an option across Sillinger’s ALURAID range, including the 650, 755, 820, 950, 1200 and 1200 INTERCEPTEUR models.

“Protecting personnel without compromising vessel performance is a key consideration in maritime operations. Our collaboration with Sillinger demonstrates how lightweight ballistic armour can be integrated into innovative vessel designs, providing effective multi-hit protection while maintaining the operational capabilities required by military and law enforcement teams.”

See the Technology at EURONAVAL 2026

Visitors to EURONAVAL 2026 can see the tested armoured collar section at Sillinger’s stand I100, alongside the Sillinger 1200 ALURAID INTERCEPTEUR.

The demonstrator will be displayed with all six ballistic impacts visible. High-speed video footage, recorded at 9,500 frames per second, shows the projectile striking the front of the armour and the rear surface deforming without the projectile passing through.

The development highlights how Integris ballistic protection solutions can be integrated into specialised maritime platforms, supporting vessel manufacturers in enhancing crew protection while maintaining operational performance.
